he had a record of achievement in the field of education. in 1315, he set up a sanskrit college at panna in spite of the opposition of a few brahmans. in 1319, when he was only 13 years old, he became the mentor of a young poet and his friend, jaishankar shastri who had become famous for his laudatory verses on his patron, gahapat singh. he took jaishankar shastri under his care and developed his talent.
he taught jaishankar how to paint and sculpt and encouraged him to compose songs. he was the first to introduce akhyana in hindi poetry. he was the founder of the ashadhi kavya, a genre of lyric verse. his poetry displays him as a complete artist of the three arts of poetry, painting and sculpture. he introduced the new social drama into hindi literature. he was the only poet to touch the new subject of social reform in his poetry. he gave shape to the new social drama in hindi literature. it was his masterpiece, kankaal, which is a study of social corruption and lawlessness. he also wrote philosophical songs and original lyrics like khayal, which gives a complete picture of the changing atmosphere in the sixteenth century. chandragupta introduced the new elements of drama in hindi literature. 3d9ccd7d82
